Moosilauke historian Bob Averill has compiled a wonderful collection of essays, letters and articles written by visitors to the old Tip Top House on the summit of Mt. Moosilauke in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The variety of visitors included teachers and professors, ministers and scientists, writers, newspaper reporters, poets, and families seeking to get away from city life. Many of these pieces were sent to newspapers and magazines. They describe experiences with mountaintop weather, the challenges of the ascent, and encounters with fellow pilgrims on the mountain and at the summit hotel.
