This entertaining book tells the story of Joe Dodge, one of the great characters in the history of the White Mountains. Dodge was best known as the longtime manager of the AMC huts system (late 1920s to late 1950s), overseeing its expansion acrioss the breadth of the White Mountains. He was a mountaineer, a skier, a search-and-rescue stalwart,  and a founder of the Mount Washington Observatory. He was also noted for his blunt manner and salty vocabulary.  Illustrated with many photos. 180 pp.
